Director of the Klingenstein Center Nicole Furlonge is pleased to announce that Latoya Allen has been named associate director of admission and enrollment management, effective July 1, 2019.
Prior to joining the Klingenstein Center, Allen worked at Riverdale Country School as associate director of lower school admission and director of community engagement. As director of community engagement, Allen organized and facilitated equity and inclusion initiatives. As a trained SEED (Seeking Educational Equity & Diversity) facilitator, she led diversity-focused professional learning workshops for faculty and staff.
“Latoya is a bridge builder who approaches the work of admissions as the work of creating, cultivating, and sustaining community,” notes Nicole Furlonge. “Her understanding of the independent school landscape, her ability to envision possibility, and her commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion will serve the Klingenstein Center well as we continue to attract and enroll strong cohorts of educators committed to learning and leading the change our schools need.”
Allen earned both a Master of Science in Special Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Pathology from Lehman College. An islander at heart, she immigrated to the United States from Jamaica as a young child. She is thrilled to join the Klingenstein Center team.
